Providing Care Through Understanding

With decades of experience in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and impaired memory care along with the implementation of our Alzheimer's Behavioral Management Program, we are distinguished from other assisted living facilities. Our program is based on the understanding that many aggressive behaviors of Alzheimer's sufferers are actually symptoms of unmet needs.

Alzheimer's Care Facility

We understand that every Alzheimer's patient is different and most have challenging behaviors. That is why our Behavioral Management Team meets regularly with residents' physicians to discuss the physical and emotional needs of each resident. In this way, we can create effective and up to date care plans. In every case, our residents' families are kept informed and are welcome to participate in team meetings. We go above and beyond to ensure that our residents feel at home.

How to Know It's Time to Place Your Loved One In Our Care

The decision to move a loved one into an assisted living facility can be extremely emotional. When a patient has Alzheimer's, it can be even more difficult--whether they become agitated by the news, forget that they are being moved, or don't understand your decision to place them elsewhere than their home. However, there are certain factors that can help you decide it's time to relieve yourself or others of the caregiver burden and let trained professionals take over.

Some of the factors that indicate it may be time to place your loved one in our Hampton Alzheimer's care center include:

  • Their safety is at risk: When someone has Alzheimer's, it is especially important that they remain in an environment that can prioritize and enforce their safety. Consider asking yourself these questions: Have they wandered? Are they a fall risk? Are there stairs in the home that make it difficult or unsafe for them to go about the house? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we recommend considering an assisted living facility, like ours. At {Sub:BusinessName}, we have handrails in all the hallways, are specifically trained to help prevent and care for falls, and we have a closed facility, which prevents unsafe wandering from occuring. Additionally, placing your loved one in an Alzheimer's care center can often be more fiscally prudent than spending money to make home repairs and adjustments so it is safer.
  • The caregiver burden has become too much: As important as it is to care for and about your loved one with Alzheimer's, it's also important that you care for yourself. If taking care of your loved one is becomming too much of a burden for you, i.e. it's keeping you from getting the necessary rest you need, it's adding stress and anxiety, it is coming in the way of your ability to get your own work done, it's keeping you from spending time with the rest of your family, then allow us to take the burden from you.
  • Their behavior has become too dificult to manage: It's not uncommon for elderly people with Alzheimer's to act aggressive. If you find yourself unable to manage the aggressive behavior, or unable to help your loved one manage their continued confusion and forgetfullnes, it's a sign to let specialists aid you. As mentioned above, our Alzheimer's care is unique in that we have a specialized Behavior Management program designed to specifically deal with and manage agressive behaviors.
  • Their general and mental health is declining: One of the challenges of living with Alzheimer's is how isolating it can be. Aside from a caregiver or interactions with a spouse, it's more difficult to engage in social activities. One of the benefits of an assisted living center is the fact that it promotes socialization with other people through various activities or family-style dining. Additionally, if your loved one's general health has declined so much that they can no longer manage their own daily habits, such as bathing, dressing, going to the bathroom, exercising, and more, it may be best to let a specialized care team intervene.
