I like that this facility is owned by a skilled retired physician who was educated in Europe!
| McDonough, GA
I would highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a lovely, comfortable facility with a friendly atmosphere. The owner, Dr. Coury, is a well-educated retired physician who was educated in Europe. He has devoted the past thirty years to his work in the field of Alzheimer's and memory care. The facility has pet therapy, including Toby the cat, who lives inside, and Sandy the dog, who lives outside. Music therapy is provided to help residents recall happy memories from days gone by. Dr. Coury's understanding and clarity on the subject of Alzheimer's is a great asset. He is on-site daily to assist with day- to- day operations, and to provide leadership with a hands-on approach that results in an atmosphere of caring and compassion for each of his residents.
If you are looking for a place where your loved one can live safely in a home-like atmosphere, this is it.

I love Mt. Carmel, the staff and the residents and I know my Mama did too. I will always remember the kindness and thoughtfulness of each staff member. The care and concern each of you shared for my Mom will bring comfort to all my family. Dr. Coury-- I want to thank you personally for providing a safe and loving atmosphere for my Mom. Each member of your staff has done an exemplary job. I will never forget you or them and will continue to include them in my prayers.
I always recommend Mt. Carmel to anyone with an aging loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s!

My father has been a resident of Mt. Carmel for over five years. I am continually amazed at the home-like environment the owner and staff are able to create for the residents. It has truly allowed my father to regain some of the normalcy that he had prior to developing Alzheimer’s. I am also eternally grateful for the experienced care he has received. My father was a resident of several other assisted living facilities in the area which supposedly specialized in Alzheimer’s care. However, that basically meant most of the residents took prescriptions to calm them down. Once my father came to Mt. Carmel, his medication was drastically reduced and he was able to participate in group activities and socialize with other residents and staff. I always recommend Mt. Carmel to anyone with an aging loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s. They are simply the best!
Nothing compares to the quality of care provided by the staff!

This is the second home my dad has been in and even though the first place was more modern, had very nice staff and was only minutes from my home, it doesn’t come close to the quality of care and understanding the staff and management at Mt. Carmel have for their extended family. The first thing that attracted me was the comfy homey feel and the way the residents were able to walk around without restriction, but also had resting places as needed, nice outdoor areas which all means a lot to Alzheimer’s/Dementia suffers, and most of all, many of the staff members have been there for more than 15 years which means a lot to me and my family. I visit often and bring my grandchildren and have never been disappointed. May GOD BLESS all who walk through this time in our lives with us and for us and those who don’t understand yet!
They have exceeded our expectations!

My wife has been at Mount Carmel Personal Care since mid December 2012. The first assisted living facility she was in could not provide all the assistance she needed as her Alzheimer’s progressed. We found another facility, which after one week told us they didn’t have any program for her and asked us to find another home for her. We feel very lucky to have found Mount Carmel. They have exceeded our expectations and she is more content than she has been in several years. I have visited her every day except 5, and the staff is very efficient at taking care of the patients’ needs. No one knows what is normal for in an Alzheimer’s patient’s mind, but expected behavior is not followed and unusual activities are the results. Some are habitual undressers, some walk continually, some talk all the time and so many other activities. The problems all of these activities cause are handled well by the staff and management. Special clothing to prevent undressing was purchased for one resident, doors are locked on rooms to prevent uninvited entry and a safe walking space is available. My wife has made friends with a lot of people with her condition. They each talk about two different things but they both get the joke and laugh. She likes to roam, usually with one or two other residents. They stop and talk to other residents that can’t walk and seem to enjoy all of the residents. They all gather in the dining rooms for meals. Many have different meal-time needs; in my wife’s case she has forgotten how to use eating utensils so must be assisted with eating. The meals are well-balanced and well prepared. I met and talked at length with family members of several other residents and none have expressed any dissatisfaction with the care of their loved ones. My experience with the care of Alzheimer’s patients is limited to my wife at home until her needs exceeded what I could provide. She is more content in this setting than she has been in several years so I would recommend this facility to anyone.

The staff at Mt. Carmel were truly excellent in their professional and loving care.
| Jonesboro, GA
The staff at Mt. Carmel were truly excellent in their professional and loving care. I was always amazed at the little ways the staff could handle the residents by giving them an alternative or offering some inducement to diffuse any situation.
It is amazing how the staff at Mount Carmel turned my father’s life around.

Mount Carmel has been a life saver for my family. After residing unsuccessfully in three different assisted livings because of my father’s difficult behavior, I was lucky to find Mt. Carmel. It is amazing how the staff at Mount Carmel turned my father’s life around. Of course there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, but the way the staff managed his behavior by doing little thing was like magic.
